Religious leaders shun funeral prayer for attackers | London

Imams and religious leaders from diverse backgrounds and schools of thought have come together to issue a public statement condemning the recent terror attack in London.

In an unprecedented move, the group have not only refused to perform the traditional Islamic prayer for the terrorists, a ritual normally performed for every Muslim regardless of their actions, but they have also called on others to do the same. The joint statement said:

The 141 signatories include Dr Abul Kalam Azad, Director General of the Muslim Family Institute, Imam Yunus Dudhwala, Head of Chaplaincy and Bereavement at Barts Health NHS Trust, and Mufti Salim Patel of Masjid Al Hikmah in London.
