Russell Square stabbing: Young man rushed to hospital after being ‘knifed by moped gang’

A gang of thugs riding mopeds have reportedly stabbed a young man near Russell Square.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene near the Brunswick Centre at about 7.45pm on Friday.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was rushed to hospital. His condition is not yet known, Scotland Yard said.

Pictures from the scene show the road taped off while officers investigate.

At least five police cars and an ambulance descended on the site.

A man was arrested at the scene in central London on suspicion of GBH. The incident is not being treated as terror-related.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Enquires continue to trace any other people involved. 

“Officers from the Central North Command Unit investigate.”
