It’s Time For Dustin Hoffman Season At BFI Southbank

This is a sponsored article on behalf of the BFI.

Film buffs and cinema lovers, you’re in for a treat. BFI Southbank has just released its summer schedule and it’s a cracker. Whether you’re into car chases and snazzy wheels or Bollywood and Bhangra, there’s something that will float your boat at the Southbank cinema.

This year is a special one for a certain award-winning Hollywood actor. Dustin Hoffman turns 80, and to celebrate, the BFI is running a Dustin Hoffman season featuring all his best films.

If you fancy being in with a chance of seeing the films for free, enter below to win a Dustin Hoffman themed goody bag, which contains a round of  cocktails, a copy of The Graduate, and a pair of tickets to both part one and part two of the BFI Southbank’s Dustin Hoffman season.

The July Hoffman special focuses on the actor’s career from the 1970s to 2015. There are screenings of a whole range of films the legend has starred in, from his role as history student Babe in Marathon Man, to the tortoise-hoarding Mr Hoppy in Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot.

The BFI wants you to see just how versatile and ground-breaking an actor Hoffman is — back in the 1960s he broke moulds and challenged conventions, and throughout his career he hasn’t been afraid to take risks.

Check out Kramer vs Kramer, the movie which won Hoffman his first Oscar after many nominations, or book in for Rain Man, another Dustin classic.

Whether you’ll be re-watching these old gems, or discovering them for the first time, the screenings should be in any film buff’s diary this July.

For a more British affair, be wowed by the all-star cast in Quartet, Dustin Hoffman’s debut film as a director —  the story set in a home for retired musicians won Hoffman a Breakthrough Directing award in 2013.

After a heart-warming family film? Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot, which Hoffman starred in alongside the equally impressive Judi Dench, will make you fall in love with him all over again. It’s a far cry from his first major role in The Graduate, but just as fun to watch.

Get into the party mood, and celebrate Dustin’s 80th birthday with BFI Southbank — check out the full schedule here.
