Backlash as Donald Trump says TV host came to Florida estate ‘bleeding badly from facelift’

Donald Trump has sparked fury for “bullying” an American talk show host, describing her as “still bleeding badly from a facelift” when she visited a Florida estate.

The US President launched a Twitter tirade against Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, hurling a series of insults against the pair including calling the TV hosts “pyscho” and “crazy”.

He launched the attack on Thursday after hearing the pair had criticised him on MSNBC’s politically-focused breakfast show Morning Joe.

But people reacted furiously on social media, including famous author J.K. Rowling, who quoted Abraham Lincoln as she mocked Mr Trump.

I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came..

…to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!

The US President had wrote on Twitter: “I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore).

“Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no.”

In a statement, MSNBC accused Mr Trump of “bullying, lying and spewing petty personal attacks” in a staunch defence of its presenters.

Other people on social media pointed to Melania Trump’s plans to make cyber bullying the focus of her time as first lady.

Matt Hiag posted: “They’re like a greatest hits collection. Name-calling, TV-referencing, Mar-a-Lago promoting, illiterate and a dash of blood-themed misogyny.”

Icahel Mann said: “Never before has the office of the presidency been demeaned in the manner you have demeaned it.”

If Trump could put aside his Mika sexism and Joe envy, watching a show founded to have bipartisan political conversations might help him.

While J.K Rowling echoed the famous quote of Abraham Lincoln, simply posting: “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”

Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski are engaged, with the pair’s political morning show widely popular among Americans.

Trump has gained a reputation for vulgar comments against women, including when he was famously caught on camera saying he wanted to grab a woman “by the p***y”.

His comments on Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski come after Mr Trump renewed a series of attacks against the media on Twitter.

Mr Trump unleashed a storm of tweets criticising the New York Times on Wednesday over their coverage of his presidency.
