Food, Taekwondo And K-Pop: Check Out The London Korean Festival

This is a sponsored article on behalf of Korean Cultural Centre UK.

Think you know your K-Pop from your Kukkiwon? Now’s the time to get enlightened about all things Korean; on 8 July the free London Korean Festival is popping up at Olympia for a day of music, food and performances.

(Not familiar with Kukkiwon? It’s South Korea’s official governing body for the martial art Taekwondo).

Sample Korean cuisine before watching Taekwondo demos — sports fans may also like to check out the virtual experience giving you a taster of the country’s plans for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Watch the masters compete in the K-Pop World Festival UK Preliminaries — if you’re a big K-Pop fan, stick around for the evening concert featuring big names on the Korean music scene.

From 7-10pm, acts such as EXID and HIGHLIGHT will take to the stage for a K-Pop show of epic proportions — you’ll have to buy tickets for the evening event, but it’s well worth it.

You’ll need your camera on hand for when you try on traditional Korean costumes, and especially for performances from break dancing group Drifterz Crew and impressive drumming from TAGO.

The kids are sorted thanks to the festival’s crafts and games, as well as the regular screenings of Korean animations such as Pororo the Little Penguin.

As well as a Korean Food Court, there’ll be tastings of different traditional dishes, with a big focus on Korea’s fermented super foods. Come hungry, and ready to be immersed in Korean culture — this is one free festival that you don’t want to miss.
