‘More good people out there than bad’, says relative of man killed in Finsbury Park attack | London

The funeral took place today of Makram Ali the victim of the terror attack at Finsbury Park Mosque.

The 51-year-old from Haringey was hit by a vehicle after leaving a prayer meeting. ITV News was invited to see the ceremony and to hear the heartache.

He was an amazing man. After someone’s death people come out with good things but this person was genuinely an amazing man.

He wasn’t involved with politics he didn’t know anything about
Islamophobia, nothing about terrorism. Just a simple family man.

Family and faith were Makram Ali’s passions. But after celebrating Father’s Day and collapsing in the street he was struck by a van and his daughter saw him die.

There were fears of division and of hatred but his family has only seen two weeks of love.

We are stronger and I think there are more good people out there than bad. The day after the incident I took a walk around Finsbury Park Mosque and some of the messages I saw on the wall were amazing.

One of the messages said ‘Last night somebody wished you were dead – this morning I wish you live and prosper’. At the bottom it says ‘From your local white, Christian human.
