Euston station evacuated after fire alert

Euston station was evacuated while officials responded to a fire alert on Tuesday afternoon.

Alarms sounded at the station shortly after 1pm and crowds of people were led outside.

One witness wrote on Twitter that there was “collective panic” as the crowds made their way out of the station onto the streets.

“The collective panic was a bit intense.”

It came minutes after Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3 was evacuated following reports of a fire alarm.

Both Northern and Victoria lines were disrupted due to the closure as British Transport Police officers descended on the scene.

A spokesman said: “Euston has been evacuated due to a fire alarm activation.

“Units of the BTP are on the scene.”
