Advice for the Notting Hill Carnival | London

The Notting Hill Carnival takes place on Sunday and Monday and over a million people are expected to attend.

Sunday sees the children’s parade with the main parade on Monday. This year, police have put special measures in place around the area of the Grenfell Tower. Local people have urged carnival revellers to be respectful when they pass the site where around 80 people are believed to have died.

The Metropolitan Police has given a list of tips for people attending the Carnival:

We’ve been working hard with everyone involved in the Carnival to make sure that thousands of people can take to the streets of West London and have a brilliant time, knowing that we are doing all we can to keep them safe.
The importance of Carnival in London’s cultural calendar has only increased – this is an opportunity for the world to see the strength of our city. We are determined to do absolutely everything to make sure revellers enjoy it.

– Chief Superintendent Robyn Williams, Metropolitan Police
