Workman ‘set alight’ after cutting through a power cable at central London building site

A workman was reportedly “set alight” after cutting through a power cable at a building site in central London.

The man was working at a building being refurbished in Fitzgrovia when he cut through a power cable and caught fire, the BBC reported.

London Fire Brigade said they were called to the scene, on Bourlet Close, just after 11am on Tuesday.

The workman, along with two others who were also injured, was treated at the scene by paramedics.

A LFB spokeswoman said: “Two fire engines and 10 firefighters and officers were called to reports of a fire at a building under refurbishment on Bourlet Close, Fitzrovia, this morning.

“A small part of the ground floor of the four-storey building was damaged by fire.

“Three men were treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.”
