DLR strike 2018 latest: Canary Wharf station packed with huge crowds as walkout causes ‘chaos’

Huge crowds formed outside Canary Wharf station as a strike by workers on the DLR caused “chaos”.

The queues were pictured outside the station in the busy financial area on Wednesday afternoon.

The walkout, over a range of issues including an alleged “comprehensive breakdown in industrial relations,” means there has been disruption across the entire DLR from 4am.

Talks to try and avert the 48-hour walkout by RMT staff broke up at Acas, the conciliation service, on Monday night.

A number of Twitter users posted pictures as commuters struggled to get inside the station.

The strike will last throughout Thursday, with services also expected to be affected on Good Friday morning.

A second phase of strike action will coincide with the London Marathon next month.
