14 different personalities create artist Kim Noble’s work | London

Artist Kim Noble’swork is carried out by 14 different personalities as she has due to Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).

They are all painters who have very different styles of working but and any can take prominence within Kim at any time.

For example, there is Ken, a 21-year-old gay man, who always says he will paint trains. Additionally, there is Ria Pratt who depicts abuse in her work, which Kim sees as being dark.

It is thought Kim’s personality splintered after suffering abuse as a young child. She has been treated for mental health issues for many years and her diagnosis of DID has been treated therapeutically, rather than with medicine, with her being advised to take up painting to help around 15 years ago.

“I feel that part of them is on that canvass and that is the nearest I am going to be to meeting the people inside me,” Kim told ITV London:

“It’s weird because I don’t see them paint, I’m not watching them paint, so just to then come out, wake up, and see the start of a painting, it can be really exciting, except Ria’s that are not too nice, when I first saw them, it was disgusting.”
