Tours of Pugin’s House of Commons Library – IanVisits

To mark 200 years since the House of Commons Library appointed its first Librarian, and the first ever ‘National Democracy Week’, the Library is open for tours on Saturday 7 July.

Housed in magnificent Pugin designed rooms, the Library holds over 228,000 publications and runs an ever-growing research and information service. The Library team responds to around 30,000 enquiries and releases 800 briefings per year on a broad range of topics, on everything from bees to Brexit.

For one day only, there’s a chance to explore this unique space normally reserved for MPs, discover the history of the Library and learn how its work supports democracy today.

These tours take one hour and run throughout the day.

Library tickets are £5 per person which also includes a Palace of Westminster guidebook.

Tickets can be purchased online, by calling 020 7219 4114 or in person from the Ticket Office at the front of Portcullis House on Victoria Embankment.

Because of space restrictions they can only accommodate two wheelchair users on each Library tour. If needed, speak to our Bookings Team before booking.

Photography is not permitted in the House of Commons Library. Due to the tour content, they advise a minimum age of 7.
