New mum’s warning over Aptamil milk formula after baby is ill

A new mum is warning others after her baby became ill after drinking baby milk formula Aptamil.

Katie Malone took to Facebook after her baby was hospitalised with severe stomach ache.

She said that, despite blood tests coming back normal, her little boy Jack couldn’t stop crying in pain and she says it’s because he could not digest the Aptamil he was being fed.

Katie continued: “They’ve changed their recipe! Too all my mothers and fathers out there DO NOT BUY THIS please let other parents know or anyone who’s about to have a baby don’t want this happening to anyone else.”

Katie is urging parents to come forward if they think their baby has been affected.

She said: “To anyone that’s experienced or is experiencing problems with Aptamil’s new formula, please contact Bel https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100010065665438 to share your experience.

“She is meeting with Matt Elder Director of Healthcare Nutrition on Tuesday. She want to show him how many babies have been affected.”

Katie isn’t the first mother to have issues with the new formula, as many have taken to social media.

Aptamil, manufactured by Danone, has responded after the huge surge in complaints.

In a response posted on Facebook, Aptamil said: “We are very sorry to hear that parents are continuing to experience problems. As with any innovation, our formulas have been tested and clinical trials have shown that babies took well to the new formula and that it is safe to consume.

“We have changed our mixing instructions slightly and, with hindsight, we could have made that clearer. But nevertheless, we understand that despite following the instructions, some parents are still experiencing mixing problems.

“This is something that we are taking very seriously and we would like to assure you that we will investigate every complaint thoroughly. We would also like to encourage any HCPs to get in touch with us directly if they have any questions or concerns.

“We would like to thank you for raising these issues with us and we hope you will give us the opportunity to help you in any way we can. Please contact us for free on 0800 996 1000, pressing option 0 followed by option 1. We are available on the phone 24/7.”

If you are worried about your baby then you should see your GP immediately and if you cannot wait take them straight to A&E.
